Got here at 11:02 am. Apparently like McDonald's, they can no longer serve breakfast after 11. I guess the lunch chef can't do omelettes?

Lunch at Fathoms was very good and the service was exceptional with a wide choice of dishes. On the opposite side is the Lounge or Bar area which also has a great panoramic view of the mighty Pacific Ocean. Went there for Happy Hour on Friday only to find that they don't have one. The bar food was not very good with no variety. Service was very good with helpful and cheerful staff. Inn at Spanish Head would do very well if they improved their Lounge act and served a variety of good dishes at a reasonable price, As it was we all had a drink and four minor bar dishes for a very high price. We could have all eaten dinner for the prices they charged and the food was marginal.

Today was our 40th Anniversary, and this place was phenomenal :-) Our waiter, Omar, was wonderful, the scenery breathtaking, and our meal very delicious, and well worth the $$$. We felt very welcomed, and very satisfied. We were too full for dessert, but next time we'll take it "to-go!" The entire experience will be very memorable for us :-)

I'm so torn because breakfast service was so horrible but dinner (IF you have a reservation) is great. I think they have some kind of skeleton crew working breakfast. What else can possibly explain the dichotomy? I will start with breakfast yesterday morning (Saturday): we stood around with about 8 other people and waited 15 minutes to even be noticed by the hostess, who was busy bussing tables, making lattes, answering the incessantly ringing phone, and seating people. We were finally noticed and told it would be 10 minutes. After 20 more minutes we were seated at one of several empty tables. Fast forward 25 more minutes. Nothing to say about that time except we spent most of it looking around in vain for someone to flag down so I could order some coffee. We didn't even have any water at our table. We've now been here an hour and haven't had coffee yet. That tends to make people grumpy. Finally a waitress comes over and we order some coffee and juice. She runs away before we can order food. She materializes about 20 minutes later with my coffee and my husband's juice, and finally takes our order. Fast forward about 35 MORE minutes and here's our food: Mine was dry, flavorless hash browns with dry bits of smoked salmon in it. My husband had a decent omelet but the same dry hash browns. He asked the waitress for some butter for his biscuit, because there was none on the plate. She said she would be right back, but she never came back. I snagged a different waiter for another cup of coffee. Meanwhile we could overhear virtually EVERY table around us complaining about the poor service. No one was impressed. They need to schedule a couple more servers and a better breakfast cook. This could be such a great place for breakfast. Now for dinner: We had been to Fathoms for dinner before, and we liked it. Because we already had a reservation for dinner last night, we decided to keep it even after the awful breakfast service, and give them another chance. Let me tell you it was a COMPLETE 180° difference. Dinner service is why they still have customers. We were greeted right away by a different hostess than the morning shift. She checked on our table, came right back and told us it was being set. We were seated a minute later at the window for a gorgeous view of the setting sun. Our waiter was at our table immediately and took our drink order. He brought us wine and a cocktail just a few minutes later. The "meritage" wine was delicious and the pear citrus cocktail was amazing! We ordered our entrees and he brought some bread and salads right out. Everything was delicious so far. Within 15 minutes we had our prime rib and ribeye steak in front of us. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted great. There were servers all over the place filling up people's water and bringing out food and drinks. It was just a completely different place than it was that morning! And you cannot beat that view. Breathtaking! Final verdict: Good place for dinner. Make a reservation. Don't bother eating here for breakfast.

I expected better food with such a view! I had the northwest skillet (no biscuit) and my boyfriend had the salmon hash (no toast, sub fruit for $2). My meal was weird. Tiny little chunks of ham, tomatoes, green onion and those little shrimp all piled up with some cheddar scrambled eggs on top. Not complimentary at all! The hash was dry, boring, and starchy. And didn't have all that much salmon. The good news: we ordered a side of bacon, which was thick and cooked crispy. Yum. The coffee-not so yum. If I went back I would order an omelette and stick to tea. But I probably won't be back.

Staying at the Inn at Spanish Head. Dined on the 10th floor for convenience, plus menu looked pretty good and view-when it's not pitch dark--is awesome. Well you guess it, went there after sunset. Warning...make a reservation. Even if it's mid week the restaurant is pretty small and surprisingly fills up. Now about Fathoms. Very outdated, but the staff in the bar was very good. I cannot say much about the dining room hostess, a little crotchety. Well no room at the restaurant so I opted for the lounge. Simple happy hour food but it met the standard. Basic Caesar salad, clam chowder a little too thick. Wouldn't choose to go here again unless convience wins out. And then I'd really need to think about it. Again, very outdated. Poor ambience, average food.

Overall, dinner at Fathom's was pretty great. The service was fair and the food was satisfying. The atmosphere of the restaurant fell short of what I was expecting based on the price, but the views were SPECTACULAR and that's the real reason to go here anyway. We showed up a little early for our reservation and the hostess was able to seat us quickly (albeit a bit rudely). My first impression of the restaurant was that it looked only slightly more upscale than your average Denny's. This was quite a shock based on the $20-$30 average price for an entree. But the interior of the restaurant is quickly overlooked in favor of the breathtaking ocean views. This place probably has the best views in all of Lincoln City. I would return purely for a cocktail and a view of the ocean. The service we received was quick and unobtrusive (I read this in another Yelp review for this location and it couldn't be more accurate). Most of the time, this was desirable. But when a member of our party accidentally knocked over a glass that shattered all over the table, not a single member of the staff noticed. We had to clean up the entire mess, broken glass and all, ourselves. The drinks were great. I had a vodka martini (extra dirty) and it was very good. They are huge martini glasses, so don't expect to order too many. You may want to save room for the dessert martinis, which looked even better. The food was, overall, very good. The fresh salmon was well cooked but a little light on the sauce. If you're a purist and only want the taste of salmon, it was great; I personally found it a little bland. The garlic potatoes and asparagus were the saving grace of my meal as both were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The dessert (Peanut Butter Pie) was just okay. For the price, the food definitely could have been a little better. Overall, I give Fathom's 4 stars. It is a wonderful place to visit if you're looking for costal views and decent food. Although I would not pay the price for an entree again, I would definitely go back for the drinks and the views.

One of the best places to go on the West Coast for a brunch. First impression was a good one. We were shuttled from parking lot to the hotel by a very nice driver. One cannot beat the views of this place on the 10th floor. Brunch was only 26.95 and included mimosas. Really fresh and clean seafood. Waffle bar, omelette station and prime rib carving station. Save room for dessert too. Bacon was thick and crisp too. Our server Florentino was very attentive and kept the coffee and mimosas coming. Highly suggest this place!

Fathoms has great food and service! I would love to go back for breakfast or lunch to see the view of the coastline. The restaurant is located on the top floor of the Inn at Spanish Head hotel and sits high over the water down below. My family dined at Fathoms for Christmas dinner. I called ahead and my reservations the day before and was happy to find a place that was open and serving food. However, I was not informed that the dinner was buffet style only and $35/person. We went ahead and stayed and very much enjoyed the array of meats, seafood, cheeses and traditional home style dishes. There were a few items, like the cold smoked fish and shrimp tray, that I didn't care for. Most seafood is better freshly cooked than left out. Other than that, everything was spot on and the sauces (gravy, au jus) were delectable and savory!

This restaurant is a hidden gem....buried in south Lincoln City on the 10th floor of Spanish Inn. I love this place. Beautiful view. Small menu, but they execute each dish well. Seafood pesto linguine was great, but I think they didn't use linguine pasta, but fettuccine. Technicality....the seafood was fresh and good portion. The clam chowder was delicious. It had a good balance of ingredients, creaminess, and taste. The fried cod was delicious too. It was moist and covered in light/crispy batter. The only reason why it didn't get 5 stars is because the server wasn't the most friendly. The rest of the staff was very friendly. I would give the restaurant 4.5 stars.

The view is the only reason to go here. The food didn't impress, and the value is pretty terrible. Otherwise nice location.

I would give this place 3 1/2 stars. My partner and I ate here last night and for breakfast. This mornings salmon hash had good flavor, but the salmon was dry. They did, however, help me with my dietary restrictions. The food is pretty good but nothing about this place would make me say that it is amazing. I take that back. We did come here for brunch once and that really was spectacular.

Based on experience from a few members of our party we decided to go to Fathom's Restaurant for a fancy end-of-vacation dinner. From the reviews, menu, and prices we were quite excited for a wonderful dining experience with a great view. The view, however, was the only piece that truly followed through. The actual restaurant has a somewhat run down atmosphere, not unlike a chain Italian or breakfast restaurant. It is the hotel restaurant so I guess it was on par with that. I was surprised, however, that it wasn't a tad bit classier considering the price and reviews. Luckily, the gorgeous beach view and front seat to the most beautiful sunset of our entire trip quickly made up for the interior of the dining room. Quick note about the view: if you have a large table (or are making reservations) specify that you want to sit by the window. The dining room is small, so even tables in the middle (like us) have a decent view, but right by the window would have been better. The food was well enjoyed by our entire group. We had looked at the menu before hand and new that there were limited vegetarian options (3 entrees and 2 small plates), however, they looked tasty so we were okay with it. To start, we tried the bruschetta and the polenta with roasted vegetables. The bruschetta was superb with excellently matched flavors of tomato, balsamic, and mozzarella. The polenta was well cooked and accompanied the roasted vegetables pleasantly. The favorite entree was definitely the Saffron Risotto with artichoke, confit tomatoes, mushrooms, and baby spinach. Usually, risottos are too salty for my taste but this one was wonderfully flavored without the heavy salt. The second entree we tried was the Pesto Primavera Pasta. Most of our party enjoyed it; I personally thought it was a little bland and lacked that "wow" factor. All of the entrees were of quite large proportions. The service was decent but was definitely not what we expected for a fine dining experience. Waitstaff was consistently moving through the dining room but was slow to check in or even assist when we accidentally broke a glass at our table. It felt a little like the staff came from a three star restaurant and were instructed to give five star service. While we watched the amazing sunset (yes, it is worth two mentions) we had several desserts. The peanut butter pie was the favorite, although those looking for an even mousse to crust ratio may be disappointed. The key lime pie had good flavor but lots of whipped cream and the triple chocolate torte lacked somewhat in flavor. Overall, the experience was pleasant but sub par for a fine dining location. Food was four stars but service and atmosphere bring it down to three stars. Final tip, the ladies in our group reported that the views from the ladies room are even more phenomenal than from the dining room!

Staff was excellent, polite and attentive without being intrusive. Thank you, Felix! Food was mediocre, somewhat bland and didn't taste as fresh as we'd hoped. We had the Seafood Medley (clams were good), Seafood Cantalone (not great) and Creme Brûlée (boring). The Marionberry Cobbler was excellent. View was amazing! Would we eat there again? Maybe.

Made reservations 2 months ago... And you seat me in the middle and not even a window table? I was first on the reservation list when I had to show you my reservation! Service was super slow and the food was so so. Might have even been microwaved considering the amount of water at the bottom of my $21 seafood canneloni. Very bland too. The view, spectacular for those that made reservations a week or two ago or possibly even just walked in with reservations!!! Not only will we not return, hopefully my word of mouth and the Yelp review doesn't go unread. Save your money! And see my other review for the The Inn At Spanish Head on site hotel! 3 nights and around $850 spent here between the hotel and restaurant, on valentine's day and my anniversary a few days later... Yeah, I'm a bit irritated!!!!

Steak was overdone and tasted like fish, so did the fries. Kids wouldnt eat the burger or chicken. We were the only ones in the restaurant and dinner still took over an hour to come out. Our server was no where to be found, but he did take the steak off the bill. The other server on duty was great (aaron). No music, the utter silence except for employee chatter was weird. We got back to our room and made ramen:( ***update***Lisa the restaurant manager called (got my PERSONAL INFO FROM THE INN AT SPANISH HEAD) asked if the server comped my steak and offered something else. He did. She then went on to scold me for writing a negative review. I called Susan, the hotel mgr and let her know what has been happening. She apologized and offered dinner to the restaurant. Thanks but no thanks.

Oy. Such a beautiful view, and yet, such a horrible dining experience. In a pie chart of what sucked about this meal, at least 30% of it was Fathoms' fault. From seating our kid-and-baby party practically on top of a wine-sipping retired couple, to murdering a lovely piece of salmon, Fathoms was not guiltless. But most of the problem came from the couple we were seated near. I get that I was perhaps not nicely dressed, and yes, I was toting a baby (who, to his credit, was very calm) to a "nice" restaurant. But apparently my existence warranted DAGGERS from the sour-faced woman. I was glared at constantly during my meal by this wacko. It was so. uncomfortable. And just when I thought--well maybe that's just her face, she began shaking her head at me. Tsk tsk. It was if I was personally responsible for her hemorrhoids and marital problems. Nope. Juuuuust eating. But it's all relevant because that's the vibe here. Old retired couples who no longer get along. Glaring at young mothers. Eating overcooked salmon.

I made a reservation 4 days In advance. I had never been before but we were vacationing and I had seen decent reviews online. It was fabulous ! They gave us a table overlooking the ocean at sunset, which was, needless to say, spectacular. The calamari appetizer was delicious. The server did a great job and had a fun attitude. Our entrees, both the seafood cannelloni and the seafood mac and cheese were spectacular ! It is a tucked away spot locals enjoy, we actually saw the owner of the hotel we stayed at there. It made for a very special experience for us, and like I mentioned previously, the view is absolutely perfect. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

The hotel is perched up on a cliff-side overlooking the ocean and the restaurant is on the top floor. It had amazing views. Our table was nice and quiet, right next to a window. We shared the crab and artichoke dip appetizer. It was pretty good. I had the seared scallops with mashed potatoes and vegetables. A green salad came out first. The salad was really good-the greens were super fresh and delicious. I loved my scallops. They were cooked in a leek, pancetta, white cream sauce (so good) and had steamed broccolini with it. The mashed potatoes were just ok. I've definitely had better. They were pretty dry. Fiance got the steak and mashed potatoes. He loved his steak (it was overcooked though) and the port sauce it had on it. Even though I don't like mushrooms, I felt like the sauce needed them. So that was one thing they could have improved on. Overall we both enjoyed our dinners and thought it tasted good-even though it had room for improvement in some areas. One thing that kind of irked me was the wine menu. The only wine they served by the glass was their own label-Spanish Head wine-I had a sample of two different kinds of their white wines and didn't like either of them. They weren't good and I was kind of annoyed that I couldn't have a different label wine unless I ordered a bottle.

Came here for Happy Hour after getting an awful reception from another joint in town. Was very amused to the "hotel cat" leading us in the front doors..... We only ate off the HH menu, so keep that in mind. It was a Wednesday early evening, and the place got pretty busy pretty quickly, so must be well liked. Between myself and my companion, we ordered several items. I started with the Crab/Artichoke Dip..good, but WAY heavy on artichoke and celery and pretty stingy on the crab. The chips it was served with were about a click away from being stale, so I was unsure after this first dish. Dining partner ordered the calamari, which wasn't bad. Next course was the prime rib tips for friend, and the pound of steamer clams for me. Both were good. The table next to us ordered the bay shrimp salad, and it looked really good. Our waiter/bartender was gracious and kind. Some fellow diners were a little rambunctious about a seagull that landed on the ledge and screamed at everyone (they climbed over others to take pictures), but the restaurant can't be responsible for that. I would visit again.

Phew, Yelp, you saved us. We came to the beach for the weekend to celebrate my "the number is not important" birthday. My lovely boy planned all the details but was stumped on the restaurant - he originally picked another well-rated place but once I read the menu and went "what the hell is this? What's that? What!?" we knew we needed to find something else. Fathom's was it. We called, got reservations and showed up around 8 p.m. and were seated quickly at a table seat. Oh, my, do you get a VIEW. It's right on the beach so you can see miles & miles of ocean. We both love clams, so we had to order the steamed clams as an appetizer. Wowza, now those were some clams! Large, in a tasty broth and fantastically cooked - so good. Our sides were the clam chowder and it was none of that thin nonsense chowder some places nearby have. For our entrees, I went with the Alaskan King Crab. Again, wowzas. That's a very tasty crab & they made it a lot easier to crack open the pieces So good!! My boy got himself a piece of steak with a side of shrimp. I didn't try the meat but he definitely enjoyed it considering how it quick it disappeared. I did try the sauteed shrimp and it was so good & huge pieces of shrimp. I also loved the garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus on my plate. Our service was polite and unobtrusive - a big plus for me. It's surely pricey but you get what you pay for - with a great view.

Me caveman, me love meat. Wait, I should be specific: I love STEAK. My lady's birthday was recently & we usually do a weekend at the coast to celebrate. I plan. I *love* planning -- I wish there was a sarcasm font on here. I got the hotel down, no problem, but where to eat? I found what seemed to be the nicest place in the city and made reservations in advance. Well come to the day we were to go I showed her the menu & we both went....uh...we had no idea what most of that stuff was. So we turned to Yelp and landed here instead. So first off, amazing view of the ocean. Add on to that - the steamed clam appetizer was great. Better than any other ones we'd tried before at other places. Then our meals - crab for her, steak for me with a side of shrimp. My steak was cooked absolutely perfectly to order (medium rare) and was flavorful and high quality. The side of shrimp featured sauteed, LARGE shrimps that were ace. The crab was sweet & succulent. Service was good & polite. They had a Rogue on tap so we were set for drinks. It's pricey but you truly get what you pay for. The food was amazing, the view was unparallelled and we both left happy and full. We will be back!

Had an excellent dining experience here for our 10-year anniversary. We had no idea there was a restaurant with such an amazing view in Lincoln City! It was absolutely amazing! Our waiter was very friendly and helpful with our order. The food we had was worth the pricing (because it was usually more than we spend, but very scrumptious!). We will definitely be back.

My daughter and I ate here while on a weekend getaway. The service and food was great! I'll always want to come back to The Inn at Spanish Head and The Fathoms Restaurant. Ask for Jacques at The Fathoms.

  • Steven G.

This is our go-to brunch spot. It's got a basic breakfast menu that suits us, and the view is the best in LC. Decent, friendly service, and it seems like it's always quiet for a mid-morning meal (especially in the off season and mid-week). The lunch and dinner menu is not very veg friendly, unless you like the perfunctory pasta dishes, so this review is really just about breakfast and the view of Salishan Spit and Gleneden Beach/Lincoln Beach beyond, not to mention the occasional passing sea lion pod or gray whale.

Took my mom to the coast for her 80th birthday. We stayed at the lovely Inn at Spanish Head so decided to try this restaurant. We were seated by the window which had a great view of the ocean. In fact, we saw a pod of whales playing nearby. Our meal was delicious, we had the Crab Louie (worth the $20), Rockfish and Pork Chop. Both entrees were served with a baked potato and asparagus which were cooked perfectly. My brother's Pork Chop was a nice thick juicy cut of meat and my Rockfish was served in a lemon caper sauce and was quite tasty. At the end of the meal they brought my mom a cup of ice cream with a candle. Great view, wonderful service and delicious food made for a very nice evening.

Met with an old friend to have a "catch up" mid-week lunch. The restaurant was almost empty which was a big surprise. The view is amazing and we got to watch whales spouting and rolling while we ate. I had the steamed clams which were good, but definitely not the best I've had. My friends had the Dungeness Crab Caesar and the Shrimp Louie. Both were eaten with zeal. We decided to split a couple of desserts so after much discussion settled on the Key Lime Pie and the Marionberry Cobbler with French Vanilla Ice Cream. Absolutely WONDERFUL! Both were outstanding - although I think my friends preferred the Cobbler by a teeny, tiny bit. Parking isn't wonderful, but the views make up for it!

Fathom's has the best view in Lincoln City and great food to match. It kind of felt like an upscale diner, but the food was good, and it's one of the few places we found that would serve booze at breakfast.

While the 8th floor ocean view is stunning, the food is mediocre. My wife and I came here for dessert after dinner at another restaurant. I ordered Bananas Foster and my wife ordered a chocolate cake. The cake gave that sickly sweet singing-teeth feeling you get when you are eating desserts that are mostly cheap ingredients and sugar. The bananas foster was better, but the sugar didn't crystalize, which is a hallmark of the dish, so it was more like warm bananas with ice cream.

We went to the lounge for a drink and a quick bite. We sat at a table in the lounge for 10 minutes, and received no service. We went to the bar to order, and was told I could not order at the bar, and that a server would be "sent right over." We waited 20 more minutes, and continued to be ignored. We left and got drinks elsewhere.

Had dinner with here with the whole family on a busy Saturday night. I made the boys and my princess put on clean, less sandy pants, no shorts, because I thought it would be a little dressy ( um, wrong, plenty of people in shorts on this summer night). I managed to enjoy my meal despite the accusing looks the three of them gave me the whole night. Really, I mean, get over it. You don't want the server to be better dressed than you, do you? Made reservations, so we 6 walked right in to be seated at our table, easy peasy. The kid's menu says at the bottom that nicely behaved children are welcome but warns that if they get unruly parents should take them out for a short walk until they can return. Princess frowned at that and agitated in indignation. She's usually nicely behaved. We've never seen that actually printed on a kid's menu before, but this is a pretty fancy adult kinda place, so we understood. We explained to her that not all children are so sweet and polite. She settled down, mollified by praise. What a lovely hotel! We've never stayed here or been in before. As promised by yelp and the inside scoop the view is amazing. Of course the mist rolled in, so our view was a tad short lived, but it definitely rocks. The ladies' room view is also special, FYI. Dinner was tasty and the service was excellent. Prime rib, rockfish, scallops, macadamia encrusted halibut, kid's seashell pasta and cheese, all good. Asparagus and crushed garlic yukon potatoes, yummy. Nice salads and clam chowder to start, especially nice. When they didn't have balsamic vinagrette they brought carafes of oil and the vinegar to my MIL to mix herself. Delicious bread and drinks, too! We were too full for dessert, but it looked nice, we will have to come back. If you're without kids, we recommend eating in the bar. The view is still good, and the experience is probably a bit less spendy, especially during happy hour. They add a 17% gratuity for groups of six or more, but they warn you that up front. We didn't mind. Our server was really good. We gave him a bit more than that. This was a great experience for Lincoln City, where we have had some doozy bad ones. Sweet.

So the last time I reviewed them, (in my head not on paper) I ranted and raved.. This time not so much. My gf and I went on a Monday night. The restaurant was pretty empty. When we were sat out server was at the table right next to us chatting away about sports and such. It was about ten minutes before he realized we were there or cared to come over. He then asked where we were from and on and on and started to talk about Silverton and sports and just went on for minutes. My gf and I had been elk hunting all day, we were hungry, and very clearly communicated that we weren't interested in having conversation. He took our drink order and went away. He returned with our drinks and asked if we were ready to order and we ordered the calamari. He then went to the table next to us and started chatting again, not putting our order in. Then returned and took my soda cup and went away. It was about fifteen minutes before we saw him again and he returned with the calamari. The calamari wasn't piping hot like it should be, therefore it was a little soggy. He didn't return for about fifteen minutes. We sent it back and took about fifteen minutes to get another one. Which was much better. Our food then arrived. I had the scallops and my gf had the steak; which is was phenomenal. We were going to have dessert but were too full. I give 4 stars for the annoying service.

Waited for 35 for a waitress to take our order after we were seated. We had to share a menu since they didn't have enough to go around and they weren't even that busy. Manager finally came over but didn't seem that concerned. Limited menu and poor service. Not sure what's changed here, but this used to be a great place a couple years ago. Still like the hotel, but it will be a long time before we give the restaurant another shot. UPDATE: Later that night the hostess brought a small gift card to our room and apologized for the the negative experience. (She was wonderful earlier too.) We've revised from 1 star to 2, but probably won't go back. It was a nice gesture, but it would have been better to have addressed the problem at the time it happened. Not the kind of dining experience one would expect from a $$$ restaurant.

Great views. Average food. Our table had ketchup on the sides of the table. The county fried steak was good. My husband ordered the blueberry pancakes that were so hot it burned his mouth. They were also rubbery. This tells me that they were probably allowed to get cold then microwaved. When mentioning it to the waitress and manager; they said sorry but no offer was made to replace or comp the meal. We will not be eating there again. Most of the wait staff;who were working their tails off; didn't seem to know very much English. I'm pretty sure the reason we weren't offered anything was because she didn't understand us.

Lincoln city at its finest in dining and hospitality. Not only is there a spectacular view any time of the day that you book your reservation, but the food was on point from the bread and butter to the steamed mussels, and ultimately, the juicy and succulent medium rare prime rib steak. Their service is impeccable, our waiter prepared everything perfectly and waited on our every need even when we didn't ask for it yet! Prices are a little steep, but for the quality of service and food that you get, spend the extra $$, it'll be worth it! This is clearly one of the best restaurants in Lincoln City, do not pass it up! Must try dishes - Steamed Mussels -French Onion Soup (Soooo delicious! One of my top 3 for sure) -Prime Rib Steak w/Bleu Cheese (The best you'll ever have!) -Seafood Pesto Linguine (Huge portion, tasty even the next day!)

My favorite place on the coast! So many places claim to have the best chowder, but this place takes the win! Their Cobb salad is amazing, and so is their pastas! The view is absolutely beautiful, and staff is always pleasant. They seem to be fairly priced.

I like eating here. The food is good as is the service. The best thing is the incredible view! Soups and salads good. Have never had any steak. They also have the bar real close which has a good menu and view as well. Crab cakes are very good. Good selections of wine. Full service bar.

We heard wonderful things about the food, but didn't get to sample anything but the view. Without a reservation you can not be seated, they offered us the limited bar menu and eating from a couch. That was only half bad but the rude hostess being snotty about it made us decide to go else where. Decor was family style low end in appearance. The view is outstanding though.

Yelp REALLY let me down with this place. Unfortunately, for having so much seafood on the menu our whole group was underwhelmed with the quality. Stuffed mushrooms were a little rubbery and could have used some time in a broiler. My seafood cannelloni seemed to have mostly bay shrimp with 1 prawn stuck on top, there was entirely too much dill in the sauce which looked like warm curdled cream cheese. The ladies next to me had the cioppino and commented that it was "fishy" not fresh. Out of a group of 8 people the only person who actually said they liked the dinner ordered the chicken without the sauce. Wine and beer are reasonable prices and the hostess and waiter did a good job. Perhaps if it wasn't too dark to see the view I might have enjoyed the experience a bit more...

Great food, great service. Our waiter Jeronimo was the best we've ever had. The crab cakes with the (I think?) mustard on them weren't as good as expected. Salad great, chowder amazing, coconut shrimp wonderful- crisp and flavorful. Even the bread was warm and delicious! Wonderful experience and affordable for what you get/where you are.

We went to Fathom's to try the early bird special, since we really didn't want to have a super expensive dinner. There are lots of positive reviews here for the Parmesan chicken, so we both ordered that dish. It was really tasty! Just for clarification, however, this is NOT chicken parmigiana. That was fine with us... the sage supreme sauce was quite tasty. It's just a point of confusion for some. The cocktails were decent. Service was pleasant (others have mentioned Jorge... he was great.) The crab artichoke dip was delicious. One star down from perfect for the wine list. If you want a single glass of wine, you'll basically be stuck with the hotel's private label. Go with a cocktail instead. The view from this restaurant is unbelievable. You know where else the view is unbelievable? The ladies room. No joke... floor to ceiling windows right on top of the cliff overlooking the ocean. Sort of weird, but interesting.

This review is for brunch only. I have been in the past but it has been too long to give a review. I made reservations about a month in advance for 8 for Easter brunch. I requested for a quieter corner since my 92 year old grandma would be with us. We were seated promptly at 10 am. The spread was beautiful, lots of seafood including a half dozen smoked options, omelettes and waffles to order, a large selection of desserts, a few salads and a bunch of additional hot options. That along with bottomless mimosas and coffees put us back $30 per person. Not a huge complaint, but they added on 17% gratuity, which for a buffet surprised me. Our service was a little slow at times to get drinks, they forgot to bring my coffee. They were super busy, and our servers were really friendly. Since I am at the coast often, I plan to return next time for brunch.

My family and I had the most wonderful dinner here last night! The views absolutely cannot be beat, and all of our food was excellent from the side salads to dessert. We generally dine here for at least one meal while in Lincoln city. Our server was Jorge, who we've had before-- he is GREAT! Very friendly, prompt service, this guy is just wonderful! We both had a steak type meal-- mine with mushrooms-- cooked to perfection! For dessert we split they peanut butter our, which was to die for. We love fathoms and would highly recommend them!

Met up with with my folks and some friends from back in the day for a Saturday lunch reunion at Fathom's restaurant, located on the 10th floor at Inn at Spanish Head in Newport OR. We had an 11:30 reservation, and were seated promptly. Part of our group was late but the wait staff waited with us and were very attentive throughout our stay. I had the beer battered shrimp and a side salad. There were 5-6 shrimp and they were very large, with a crunchy and delicate breading, sitting on a bed of greens. The salad greens were fresh (not that awful bagged stuff), crisp and ice cold. One in the party got the Cobb salad: it was also very fresh ingredients and was HUGE! Another chose the hamburger, which was #1/2. This hotel is built some years ago--my first visit was back in 1980, but it is clean and well kept. The view of the ocean is breath-taking. There is limited parking close to the hotel, there is a parking lot across Highway 101 with an underground tunnel, but there are also 6-8 reserved parking spots just in front of the hotel for restaurant guests. The group was in agreement that the food and service were great and we plan on a return lunch reunion in the Fall.

Great Views of the Pacific Ocean from both Bar and Dining area, Gary Whales breached the surfaced as we were served drinks and dinners. Food Served at the Restaurant has a Spanish's theme with tender steaks with mild sauces and fresh seafood. The deserts where rich sweet and creamy served by a professional staff many who speak Spanish worth stopping at if your in town.

2.5 stars. Took away my happy hour. This used to be a go to place at the beach, due to the nice view, and the happy hour, which no longer exists, and the staff is apparently too dumb to know what happy hour even is? The food isn't really worth the prices, even with the view. I called this weekend to check if they still had their happy hour. The ditzy answer "The lounge is open from 2-10" I take this to mean, "Ask the lounge" ok... Have my husband call back when they're open to ask when happy hour is. The snotty girl says 2-10. He makes sure to ask if happy hour is all day. She starts getting frustrated and repeats, 2-10... specials from $3 and up. I figure they raised happy hour prices, since she never says "We have no happy hour, even though any time you google Fathoms you come up with $1.95 happy hour" So we walk up, sit down, to a lady SCREAMING to the entire restaurant that there is a whale. I believe this lady had never seen the ocean. I ask for a happy hour menu, the waiter says "We're happy all day" in a slightly pretentious tone. The only $3 item on the menu is a CUP of clam chowder. I say that the lady on the phone said happy hour was 2-10, specials for $3 and up, he pretentiously points at the clam chowder... I considered staying there, but with all the good expensive places on the beach, I couldn't bring myself to eat at the hotel restaurant, with a lady constantly screaming over a whale, and someone who didn't even know what happy hour was, to say they didn't have it anymore.

We just had the champagne brunch on Father's Day this past weekend and the food was fabulous. For $23.95 you can eat all the favorites like eggs benedict, Belgian Waffles with real whipped cream and 3 choices of berries or syrup, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage and made to order omelettes. Other choices included Prime Rib, which was delicious and tender, Seafood choices like smoked scallops, mussels, smoked salmon, crab legs and a great clam chowder too. We were greeted by a very friendly waiter, who offered us Champagne, Mimosa's and Orange Juice, of which we had all three plus coffee. We also enjoyed croissants and a variety of salads. There was so much to choose from that we just skipped the dessert table, which was overflowing with many choices that looked homemade. All in all, we were very impressed and will definitely be back. Reservations are a good idea . And did I mention the view ??? We watched whales when we weren't pigging out !!

Nope, this is not a good place to eat. We were seated by a very nice little old women and our server was a very friendly woman but that would not be a reason to go back. True, this restaurant is on the Oregon Coast which is not the food Mecca of the state but I can't understand why this place would get more than one yelp star anywhere. I ordered the Cioppino which, in this restaurant, is stewed tomatoes, big sticks of celery, and some really fowl fish and shellfish in a bland sauce. Yuk! I don't think I'm super picky but I couldn't say any bite tasted good. Each one made me cringe. The other folks at the table had the same opinion with their dishes. This restaurant is within the worn out, and very run down, Inn at Spanish Head. When I yelped this place I didn't realize it was located here.

Fabulous view and feeling; Classic 50-60s seashore restaurant ambiance and romance. Delightful service staff but I expected a better menu selection especially shellfish. No moscato on the wine list saddened all of us at the table, otherwise good selection. I had the crabcakes; they were were small and just okay. The mustard sauce was quite good. Great bar!

The view is superb. Service, food and ambience are lacking. Ate in the lounge-from the lounge menu-with the (lack of) decor. The bar had some decent beers on tap, but so does pretty much everywhere else in Oregon. The Cesar salad wasn't bad, the calamari was well seasoned and the aioli sauce was pretty good, but the calamari was both undercooked and saturated with oil. The steak tip tenderloin, or should I say copious amounts of garlic and salt were overwhelming. The prime rib sandwich was waaaaaaay overcooked. Why is a prime rib sandwich full of fully overcooked meat? The au jus was a pathetic excuse for au jus. The horseradish was ok....the fries ok. Beer was good, the view was good. The 80s wants their carpet back. I wish I knew of a better place to go on the Oregon coast, but I'd avoid this one. And I don't know why the service was so lacking, a lot of servers passed us by without even looking at us or thinking to ask if we needed anything.

As other astute travelers have noted, Lincoln City is not a haven for foodies. Reading the other Yelp reviews for this area are almost enough to make you lose your appetite. So, we went to Fathoms for dinner. If you call early enough, you may be lucky enough to score a window table with a breathtaking ocean view. Ask for the north view rather than the south view, IMHO. More on sunset views later ... We had a great waitperson (Leslie) - my wife decided on a glass of wine right off the bat, but I had questions about the house Pinot Noir, and without prompting, she offered to bring me a taste, along with a taste of another Pinot I had missed on the menu. I really appreciated that extra touch. Being on the coast, there's lots of seafood on the menu, so we started with the Mussels for an appetizer. Neither my wife or I indulge in Chorizo, so they kindly left that out. Unfortunately, mussels call for very careful preparation and timing, and these were really overcooked, one of the reasons I can't give five stars. My wife ordered the Coconut and Macadamia Nut Pan Roasted Cod, which has a fantastic curry sauce, and was really good. I had Arroz Bomba, which is supposed to be a seafood medley in risotto. Unfortunately, it also contained chorizo, which was not listed in the menu. To her GREAT credit, the waitperson had requested it be left out in deference to my sensibilities; too bad the kitchen staff didn't follow through. The presentation of the dish left a bit to be desired, and the risotto looked more like rice in broth. Good-bye Arroz Bomba, hello Coconut and Macadamia Nut Pan Roasted Cod for me as well. Remember the view? We were really excited to watch the sunset on the ocean that night. However, the three witches from Macbeth - or were they vampires? - were also dining there that night. OK - I can understand lowering the shades a bit so as to not be blinded, and the staff lowered them just so, so that we could see, and the sun was cut from their area. However - and this is the weird part - once the sun had set, they had one of the staff lower the blind ALL the way down, totally cutting out 100% of our view. Dueling tables and staff ensued, the blind was raised, and they raised hell with the manager. Not sure how well it turned out for him. BTW - the deserts here are great! I had the Peanut Butter Pie, and it was terrific. My wife had the Mud Pie, and each of us left just a skooch on the plate. We are headed back tonight - waited too long to get reservations at a small local place with no view, but great Yelp reviews. I'm going to have the seafood lasagna; my wife, true to form, will have the cod again. [The next day] I had the Seafood lasagna, and it was just ok. The Cappuccino Torte was AMAZING! So - GREAT view, OK food and AMAZING deserts!

Hey, when it's whale watching season, try here! Instead of braving wet wind at Boiler Bay, you can go the 10th floor in the mid-afternoon and pull up a table by the windows. Enjoy the warmth of the lounge and keep your eyes peeled!

If you're visiting Lincoln City or Depoe Bay - make sure you check this hidden gem of a restaurant out! If you're not looking for it or not staying at The Spanish Head Inn you'll never find it. We picked it because everywhere else had a long and surprising weekday wait. When we arrived, with reservations, the hostess told us it would be just a few extra minutes to make sure we had a seat next to the window so we could see the sunset against the ocean. We didn't mind and we're glad we waited. It was a great view with the ocean on multiple views. Views aside - the service was quick and the food was delicious. I had the macadamia nut encrusted halibut and my wife had the sesame-seared ahi tuna, which was also delicious. Their chowder was some of the best I had while staying on the coast - it was peppery, buttery and I didn't want to stop eating it. Also - if it's still on the menu - order the chocolate tort. It was decadent and dense. We were sad that we couldn't finish it. The lighting was dim, and the server/hostess could use a bit more pep in their step but for being a restaurant nestled in a hotel - it was worth the $20/plate cost and the drive up to Lincoln City.

This restaurant had a gorgeous view of the ocean... my family and I went for Thanksgiving Dinner, because we were vacationing in the area and we heard they had an excellent buffet. The food was pretty good. The turkey wasn't dry, which was a fear of ours considering the turkey my fiance is used to is of the Puerto Rican variety and is usually very juicy. The mashed potatoes were homemade and excellent. Their seafoods were all smoked, which was nice (considering our Northwest location), but if you aren't used to smoked seafood, you will either love it or hate it. The candied yams were underwhelming, and soupy... definitely not good. Ultimately, the food was all OK, but the view more than makes up for the OKness, garnering this place a 'four-star' review. Their drink selection was nice... the house Pinot Noir was tasty, and my sister and fiance enjoyed a lemon drop martini, which got them both pretty woozy. Our bill was about $270 for 6 people (with all the booze and food), so it wasn't cheap, but it was totally worth it. Get a window view, and woo your lady/man for an evening... the Oregon Coast offers some of the MOST BEAUTIFUL views you'll ever see... for many, it can be lifechanging. Add a drink and a fine meal, and you're in for an experience I'm sure you won't soon forget ;-)

Best Margarita - ever!!! If Soledad makes it, it will be the best you've ever had. Forget those cheap mixers, she makes it by hand, squeezing fresh limes. The other waiters use the same recipe but it is never as good. Wherever I travel I try to find a margarita that is just as good. Always disappointed. However, Soledad gave me the recipe and I am trying to recreate her magic. Cheers! PS the view from the oceanfront bar is rather spectacular as well! Be sure to check out the women's bathroom. Best ocean view from a bathroom.

My wife and I were looking for a good brunch and stumbled across the listing of Fathom's in our hotel food directory. We came out fairly satisfied. The brunch selection itself was fairly big, with all kinds of breakfast items (biscuits and gravy, omelets, belgian waffles, fruit, etc.) along with some fine seafood items such as crab, shrimp, salmon, etc. The grilled asparagus had a fantastic aioli dip along with it that went really well (oddly) with the country potatoes. Along with the fairly expensive brunch price, you get free mimosas. Needless to say, I wanted the most bang for my buck... so I made the most of it and had several. The setting and overlook of the beach is really picturesque. Fortunately, it was fairly sunny that morning and we had a very nice view. I'll have to go back and see if it's consistent in order to get a five star. But if you're looking for a good brunch buffet, Fathom's will deliver.

You know, whats great about this place is, while it may be hard to find, you don;t need to be a guest at the hotel to go here. Depending on witch direction you are heading just look for the signs. Prices are spendy but this is no Dennys. This is a full blown restaurant. They take reservations and its best to go early, like around 4:30 or 5:00 to get the best seats and before the crowds come in. Ask for a window seat. 95% of the eating area is all windows over looking the Oregon Coast. Let me tell you, the view is excellent. "jackets" are not required. But I still recommend dressing decent. When you enter the main lobby of the hotel (thats on level 9) just head to the elvador and go to the 10th floor. Staff are very friendly. I came here back in 2007 and had a Blacken Salmon. I came back again few weeks ago in April 2011 and they did not have it. I asked the watress if they still have it and she went back to the kitchen to see if they can still make it. Not only did they make it but they still had the buttery sauce that comes with it. The salmon it self is around $18-$20 but its well worth the money. It is not a cheep-o salmon you get at these other places. Its a real, gourmet salmon. It seems like they flame grill the salmon and add some chives or parsley to it, plus a garic lemmon buttery sause to dip it in. So much better then tater sauce! It comes with a baked potato with an option for "everything" that includes butter, sour cream, chives, cheese and bacon bits. They also have bread that was baked fresh every day from a local bakery. That comes with a buttery spread. Drinks (soda) are about $2.50 each. Not sure about wine or beer. Deserts are to die for. I had this esspresso cake that is big enough for two people and really really rich but its good. Those prices I believe were $4.50 for any desert. It may be more though. If you are visiting the Oregon coast and want someplace that is really great to celebrate your anniversary or special occasion and don't mind spending a lot for the said occasion then go to Fathoms.

we had a really good experience here. The chowder was great and my husband had the French onion soup which was also pretty good. One thing that wasn't very good was the rice--but he probably shouldn't have ordered that with his steak anyway. (Rice???) We can hardly wait to go back in the summer to enjoy a sunset and some good food.

Breakfast is on the higher priced side. It's standard breakfast fare with a good view. However, the smoked salmon hash is one of the best I've had. It's also big enough for two. I like to eat here when I stay at the Spanish head.

Sunday brucn was a treat with attentive staff making sure everything was replenished. The chocolate cake was superb - take this as a sign of authenticity - no shortening frosting here. The unfortunate part was a large, boisterous group near us who made it impossible to talk. Not sure what the wait-staff can do, but it was a bummer.

Great bar!

Food is excellent and breakfasts are suprisingly reasonable - considering the ambiance and view - this is got to be one of the best places in Lincoln City for breakfast. Their Creme Burlee & Peanut Butter Pie is to die for.

Fathom's has the best view in Lincoln City and great food to match. It kind of felt like an upscale diner, but the food was good, and it's one of the few places we found that would serve booze at breakfast.

Maybe.

Very nice Sunday brunch, in particular the smoked seafood selection. Lots of other good food and great ocean view. Service pleasant and attentive.

I like eating here. The food is good as is the service. The best thing is the incredible view! Soups and salads good. Have never had any steak. They also have the bar real close which has a good menu and view as well. Crab cakes are very good. Good selections of wine. Full service bar.

Hey, when it's whale watching season, try here! Instead of braving wet wind at Boiler Bay, you can go the 10th floor in the mid-afternoon and pull up a table by the windows. Enjoy the warmth of the lounge and keep your eyes peeled!

To whom ever the Chef was December 30th ...I just wanted to let you know the Prime Rib was the best I have had in years..... and you know what Rare is ....what a treat it was. Also the Au jus and Horseradish were excellent as well.

we had a really good experience here.
